Short-Term Stays
Start by asking what is possible
Short-term stays are not a standard offering at Autumn Ridge. They require a suitable furnished apartment and depend on current availability, the length of stay and the support a guest needs. Please speak with the community before making plans.
Why people use it
Why families ask about a temporary stay
Getting strength back
Discharge day can come faster than anyone expects. Families sometimes ask whether a temporary stay could provide meals and support while someone regains strength.
So you can go
Caregiving does not pause for a wedding, a work trip, or your own surgery. Families sometimes ask whether Autumn Ridge can accommodate a temporary stay while a caregiver is away. Availability and the guest's needs must be reviewed first.
A trial run that is not a commitment
Some families ask about a trial stay before making a permanent decision. Because furnished apartments are not routinely held for this purpose, the community must confirm whether this is possible.
Somewhere to be in between
Selling a home, waiting on repairs or bridging a move can create a temporary housing need. Call to discuss timing rather than assuming an apartment is available.
What to confirm
Every temporary stay would be arranged individually
If a short-term stay can be accommodated, the community will explain the apartment, services, care, timing and cost that apply to that specific situation.
- Whether a furnished apartment is available
- Which meals and services are included
- Whether the requested dates can be accommodated
- What care or medication support is needed
- The minimum or maximum length of stay
- The total cost for the proposed stay
Availability comes first
Autumn Ridge does not routinely maintain furnished apartments for respite. Tell us the dates, circumstances and support needed so the team can determine whether a short-term stay is possible.
Common questions
Before you call
What should we bring?
What to bring depends on whether a stay can be arranged and how the apartment would be furnished. The community will provide a specific list after reviewing the request.
Can a respite stay turn into moving in?
If a temporary stay is available, ask the community how it would relate to a permanent move. Apartment availability and agreements may differ.
Does insurance or Medicare cover it?
Coverage for short stays depends on the person, the policy, and why the stay is happening. Tell us the circumstances and we will walk through what might apply, including VA benefits if the guest is a veteran or a surviving spouse.
How much notice do you need?
Please ask as early as possible. A furnished apartment is not routinely available, and the team needs time to review the dates and support required.
